CognoSpace, An Experiential Learning Program - by BITS-Pilani Alumni From a Spark to a Nationwide Impact
Every great innovation begins with a question — “Can learning be made more real?” For CognoSpace, the answer came from lived experiences with children, educators, and our own schooling. We saw the urgent need to go beyond textbooks, creating a 360° New Age Experiential Learning model that caters to Auditory , Visual and Kinesthetic learners alike.
Our journey began with one school, a few concepts, and traditional classrooms — proving that hands-on learning could ignite curiosity and improve academic performance. Early success inspired us to reimagine the learning space: workstations with tablets, collaborative seating, and activities using everyday materials turned classrooms into daily science fairs. The “toppers vs. average” divide faded as teamwork took center stage.
Without knowing it, we were already addressing four levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy — Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyse. This phase also gave birth to our iconic STEM Wall and the addition of skilled educators supported by custom learning books blending activities, real-life examples, and quick assessments. The goal was simple: make learning unforgettable.
For the fortune of good will, growth brought challenges. One school expected our activities to be connected to the textbook concepts, leading us to customize our curriculum to align with CBSE, ICSE, and Cambridge. This change brought more schools into our basket, helping us make experiential learning available for 10,000+ students. Further, we have had more challenges and challenges led to innovations, including integrating Science and Math with Art and promoting self-learning, inspired by Sugata Mitra’s “Hole in the Wall” experiment. We launched our own LMS and app for Android & iOS, making experiential learning accessible anywhere.
Our four core modules now form the heart of CognoSpace:

- 21st Century Life Skills (Financial Literacy, Personality Development)

The impact was swift — 30+ schools joined in days. We took the next step by launching our in-house Research & manufacturing unit, designing, prototyping and producing durable, easy-to-assemble kits. Our reach expanded to 60+ schools, and labs became hubs for 21st-century skills, aligned with NEP 2020 and offering 600+ STEAM activities in our Composite Skill Lab.
To celebrate creativity, we launched CognoFest — our annual STEAM fair where students showcase innovative solutions to real-world problems, fulfilling the dream of covering all portions in Bloom’s Taxonomy (Evaluating and Creating).
We crossed borders. From one modest classroom to a nationwide movement, CognoSpace has redefined how children in Grades 1–9 experience learning. 100+ schools now, 60,000+ students and our mission remains unchanged — to keep curiosity alive, to make concepts real, and to empower the next generation of thinkers, creators, and problem-solvers.
